Fairy Special Seamstresses
The Fabric Fairy has been overwhelmed by the love and generosity of spirit of some of our customers, and thought that everyone could benefit from the inspiration they can provide. We will be featuring a new "Fairy Special Seamstress" each month--feel free to nominate someone whose work you believe should be highlighted!

What I do: Sew hats for children losing their hair due to treatment for cancer.
Inspiration: I was inspired to start sharing a piece of who I am, and the caring heart that God gave me, after some friends lost their 11 year old daughter to cancer. She had battled the cruelness of it since she was 2 years old. In August of 2007, I started to sew a few hats for children that were going through chemotherapy. When I realized that I was capable sewing very simple items as those, I sewed every evening after my little son went to bed. In 1 month's time I was able to make 150 girl and 150 boy prints. I then drove down to the University of Iowa Children's Hospital to deliver those hats to a Child Life Specialist. The hats were a HIT with the children and the Child Life Specialists, that they wanted me to continue my work!! As of this day, I have made slightly over 700 hats for those special children, and my heart has been touched several times by the stories of my hats. I also have a little buddy named "Gundy" whose career is in the "modeling business"!!! He is quite photogenic, and he models all of the FABULOUS and FUN prints by my "Fabric Fairy", Caroline!!! It is truly magical how I found her !! Caroline's passion for sewing and silliness is expressed through the prints she brings to the table!! I am truly inspired to continue my "Hope Hats" because of Caroline ! Her dedication to the craft, along with building relationships with her customers, is truly elite!! Advice: Anyone can make a difference: " Touch a heart, change a life" !!! |
